Barley Mow to Odiham Castle, The End of the Navigable Canal 18/10/2013

A boat licence is required from the Hampshire and Surrey Canal Authority at Mytchett.     Cost is £3.00 for a day visit or £90.00 for an anual permit of 30 days on the canal from April to March for powered craft.     The maximium engine size is 2.5 horsepower per meter on an outboard engine.

These pictures were taken from a small RIB at 3.1 meters long and a 6 horsepower Yamaha 4 stroke engine.     The maximium speed is 4MPH allowed on the canal.

Odiham Lifting Bridge was not required to be lifted, as I managed to craw under the bridge with an inch or so above the engine.    Barley Mow to the end of the canal is around 4 miles and can take around 3 to 4 hours enjoying the canal at a steady pace.
