After the last Bashley FC away game of the 2024 to 2025 Football League Season against Evesham Utd on Saturday 26th April 2025, I decided to take a break for a few days, and head for Scotland in my Motorhome with my dearest dog Jemma.
29/04/2025. Departing Winchcombe North Gloucestershire for a 190 mile trip to Blackpool for a 1 night stopover, before heading north.
30/04/2025. Departing Blackpool heading north and on to Scotland and the Borders stopping at Jedburgh for another 1 night stopover, and heading north again.
01/05/2025. Departing Jedburgh heading north again to Stonehaven Queen Elizabeth campsite on a 232 mile drive. Stonehaven is just south of Aberdeen, and another 1 night stopover.
02/05/2025. Departing Stonehaven, and heading north again for Culloden near to Inverness, and another 155 miles north. This campsite is a starting point for the NC500, North Coast 500, a distance of around 516 miles round trip. Stopping off at the Glenfiddich Distillery, one of many in Scotland. There are guided tours which need booking in advance. Also sadly No Dogs are allowed on the tours. No samples are to be consumed by any person driving.
03/05/2025. Depart Culloden for Brara campsite along Scotland’s east coast following the A9 north. We take the Moray Frith Road Bridge leaving Inverness. I later found out that a starter the NC500 is in the village off Beauly, just west of Inverness, then turn right north along the A9. Stonehaven to Brora via Moray Frith road bridge is around 65 miles, but I head back along the road bridge south then for a second time head north along the A9 for Brara.
The Brora campsite is close to a fantastic sandy beach overlooking the North Sea, and between the beach and the campsite is a small Golf Course with Highland cattle grazing on the rough pastures. Taking a break from driving, Jem (dog) and I stay for 2 nights at Brora, and enjoy the beach and area for the whole day stay.
