05/05/2025. Depart Brora for the drive to John O Groats campsite at John O Groats. The drive is around 65 miles total along the A9 and A99. I had planned to get a ferry from John O Groats to Orkney, and Jem and I stay here for 3 nights total. This, so far the best site Jem and I stay at in Scotland with fantastic area views overlooking Orkney and area.
07/05/2025. Take a look at Duncansby Head Lighthouse and area views near to John O Groats
08/05/2025 Depart John O Groats and sadly in a way with fantastic views of Orkney. Up and depart early to get the motorhome with the “End to End Sign” and post on the background. Passing the former nuclear power ststion at Dounreay and travelling west along the A838 and A836 to Durness around 95 miles. Scenery was fantastic along this route making a number go roadside stops to get pictures.
On arriving at Durness, I went on Speck. To try and find a campsite, and Sango Sands had a small non electric pitch that night. My motorhome being less than 6 meters, I was able to take the pitch. After just 1 night, there was an electric pitch which came available, pitch number 65, I would say just about the best pitch on the campsite as is seen in the pictures with excellent views of 2 beaches and an area jutting to the sea to separate the 2 beaches. Fantastic views overlooking the Scottish North Atlantic. I spent a total of 3 nights at Sango Sands, 2 on Pitch no 65.
